Beyond the step counter

How movement powers Fitji Journey and mini-games.

Fitji does not end at “you walked 6,214 steps.” Movement becomes somewhere to go and something to do with the companion waiting in your pocket.

From the Fitji team. Published August 7, 2026.

The short version

Your walk becomes play.

Fitji converts real movement into distance available in Journey. Spend that distance to travel with your companion, uncover small encounters, and add discoveries to Journal. Activity also unlocks and supports mini-games, toys, food, and collectibles elsewhere in the app.

Walk.

Your phone records movement without a special tracking session.

Explore.

Movement becomes distance along a path in Journey.

Bring something home.

01

Journey gives steps somewhere to go.

Journey is Fitji’s answer to a progress bar that fills and disappears. Steps recorded during the day become travel distance. Open Journey and your companion follows a path through places such as Mellow Meadow, with today’s available distance waiting on Home.

The app keeps the movement and the play separate on purpose. You can take the walk with the phone in your pocket, then sit down later and see where it carried the two of you.

02

The path leaves a record.

Journey encounters can become postcards and Journal entries. The Journal is a timeline of milestones and discoveries rather than a clinical exercise history. A place visited or constellation traced is allowed to be the memorable thing; the step total can stay backstage.

Fitji’s current beta includes daytime paths, a Habitat that changes over time, and Stargazer’s Telescope after sunset. The telescope has core constellations and seasonal discoveries to trace as activity and rest open more of the sky.

03

Mini-games spend attention, not money.

Movement can unlock items and ways to play with your companion. The current beta includes the pocket-console battles of Fitji-Boy, the forest disc game Catch-22, Stargazer’s Telescope, and toy games found through the Bag.

Some toys build Bond or recharge through use. Others are tiny excuses to check in for a minute. In-game mushrooms and collectible items are earned inside the movement loop; Fitji has no in-app purchase store asking you to buy the missed walk back.

04

The loop is intentionally small.

A day in Fitji can be as simple as walking, opening the app, moving along a path, and giving the companion whatever the Bag happened to collect. Workouts can build Bond. Sleep can add a boost tomorrow. None of those actions requires a perfect day.

This is why “virtual companion fitness app” is more accurate than “step tracker.” Fitji reads the same underlying movement, but the visible outcome is a companion and a place, not a verdict about whether the number was good enough.
